Menu Plan Day!

menu

Are you planning menus?  From experience I can assure you that if you have more than two people in your home to fee, planning menus can save you money, save time and save your sanity.

I’m not a uber-organized person when it comes to meal planning.  I figure I have 21 breakfasts, lunches and dinners to make every week for 5 people.  So I just plan the breakfasts, lunches and dinners and then choose what I want to prepare or what the family wants to eat on a daily basis.  Then I plan a few desserts and snacks and we have then when we want them.

Just making a grocery list and sticking with it is a big improvement over buying what ever strikes your fancy while you’re in the store.

Here is what we’ll be eating this week:

Breakfasts ~
Dry cereal
Oats and dried fruit
Multi-grain hot cereal, maple syrup
eggs, toast, bacon
yogurt and granola

Lunches ~

Whole wheat bread sandwiches using turkey, chicken and roast beef
Soup
Apples and cheese
Leftovers

Suppers ~
Beef and barley stew
White chili and cornbread
Spaghetti
Baked chicken, rosemary potatoes, salad
Beef roast, roasted vegetables
Calzones, salad
Grilled sandwiches, soup

I attempted to make white chili the other night but I wasn’t pleased with the results. Can you share your white chili recipe?
I’m a menu planner. I have a hard time functioning without it. I recently started planning an entire month at a time so I could do all of my ‘big’ shopping on one day and then just pick up produce and dairy as needed. It’s alot of work to do the menu plan but I’ve been very happy with the results.

Yes I will get that recipe on the blog this week once I make it and have some pictures. Can you tell me what about your recipe you didn’t like?
I’m a meal planner too. I haven’t always planned weeks and months of meals, but I haven’t always been so conscious of planning be a great way to save money and prepare nutritious meals!
