Is It Spring? – That Means Field Trips!

New Echota

New Echota

February in middle Tennessee is supposed to be cold, snowy, icy and wet.  What it is turning out to be instead is wet, warm one week and cold the next.  Daffodils are blooming, trees are budding and birds are singing. Not a bad thing I guess but not what we usually have until mid-March.  Oh well, I guess I will just deal with it. The constant change in temperature takes a toll on everyone’s health though.

The warmer weather (we’re supposed to be in the mid-70′s this week) is making me want to get moving on Spring Cleaning. However…. I think I will put that off for a month or so if possible.

I took my husband and son to work this morning so I could have the Jeep. We need to make a library run today and go to piano lessons.  This is our 21st year of homes educating our children.  We have only two students now. Sam (16) took some Algebra 2 tests yesterday and I am happy to say he made A’s.  I was stressing a little.  He is doing well in all his subjects. So is my youngest daughter. They both seem to be adept at learning.

The warmer weather has me thinking about field trips too. We were talking this morning about visiting the Old Stone Fort again.  I say “again” but the two youngest have never been.

Another trip I am mulling over is to New Echota.  Again, the two youngest have never been there, I think they would find it very interesting. While we are there we will probably go on to Stone Mountain. Maybe do a little camping.

Do you take field trips with your children? Where have you gone? Do you go with your children on their school field trips?

  1. I live in an area, on the central coast of California, that is full of history. So I can take a field trip without having to go very far…literally :) :) There’s so much cool history to learn!!! Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
