The new show is called Homekeeping Haven and its going to be a lot of fun and very informative.
Episode #1 – The Inaugural Show! My vision for the show, and I talk about what’s happening in my kitchen, including dandelions, violets, and chickweed.
Episode #2 – April 25, 2013: This week on Homekeeping Haven Sylvia talks about Starting From Chaos. When your home is cluttered and messy and you don’t know how or where to start…. start by listening in to this show. Sylvia shares tips and very basic, detailed instructions for decluttering, changing habits and keeping your home clean and organized after you declutter. There’s no condemnation here, Sylvia has had 5 children at home and knows how difficult it can be to get things in order and keep them there, she shares from experience.
Episode #3 – May 2, 2013: On this week’s Homekeeping Haven learn Pressure Canning and Water Bath canning basics. Sylvia talks about choosing a canner, stocking your canning pantry, how to water bath can and how to pressure can for novices.
Episode #4 – May 7, 2013: How to prepare your home and family for blackouts. Sylvia discusses what you need to have on hand, the pros and cons of different ways of lighting and how to prepare to cook, heat, communicate and live without power.
Episode #5 – Has Your Food Gone Bad? Sylvia talks about how to tell if food has gone bad; dairy products. Meat, vegetables, fruit and canned food can all go bad. Mold and bacteria growth can be dangerous so learn how to detect their presence.
Episode #6 – Children And Chores – Do your children have chores to do in your home? Sylvia talks about the importance of age-appropriate chores for our children and gives suggested lists of age appropriate chores. Listen in and find out how chores in the home help to instill self-confidence, character, time management and responsibility in our children.
Episode #7 – What kind of mind-set do you need not just to survive but to thrive? Today on Homekeeping Haven Sylvia talks to agarian-separatist-homesteader Michael Bunker about his fiction books in the WICK series and The Last Pilgrims and how those works of fiction are based on fact and can be used to learn how to think and to live during a disaster. They also discuss Michael’s homestead, his land-sabbath, his animals and methods of food preservation living off off-grid.
Episode #8 – Homeschool 101 Part 1 – Join hostess Sylvia Britton as she takes you through her family’s homeschool journey and talks about Learning Styles (and why you should know what your children’s Learning Styles are), Teaching Styles, Learning Readiness and Learning Environment. Sylvia also gives you a look into her kitchen and shares what she has been up to all summer.
