The Homekeeper’s Journal is a series of writing prompts that you can use to journal about your days. You don’t have to be a stay at home mom to use it. Its written for everyone. This week I have a few new prompts for you that may help you think about what you want to say…

Here’s how to participate: I’ve added a Mcklinky for you to use to add your entry in the Homekeeper’s Journal. Look at the bottom of this post. Just fill in your name, blog’s name with the url to your Homekeeper’s Journal entry this week. And don’t forget to take the Homekeeper’s Journal image to put on your own blog, a link back would be very nice but is not required.

If you don’t have a blog you can post you entry here in the comment section (down at the bottom of the page) or post it on Face Book as a Note!

Here’s What’s happening …..

In My Kitchen …. yeast rolls, salted salmon, white chocolate chip cookies

With The Children ….. cabin fever. Even though we do get out, the weather has really kept us closed up for a while. I think we’d all like to get outside.

What I’m Reading … finishing up the third book in the Mitford series. I get frustrated with Father Tim. He acts more like an old maid woman than a man at times. But then how many older unmarried men have I known?

What I Have Been Learning … patience, longsuffering. Not very pleasant lessons. But needed.

What I’ve Been Noticing …. that God is sending more and more people to me for counsel. Is this what happens when you get old? I spend a lot of time in prayer asking God to guide me and help counsel from His Word alone.

On The Back Burner of My Mind …. gardening! Thoughts of a garden, buying seeds, getting ready to start the seeds…

In The Deepest Darkest Recesses …. I can’t get motivated like I feel I need to be. Praying for that motivation and energy to act on it.

Now its your turn ……….. add your blog link to the Mcklinky below, or add your entry to the comments section……….

I can’t figure out the McKlinky thing so…

In the kitchen…not much is going on right now in the way of food prep. Wednesdays are light/easy days because of church.

With my children…they are quietly (as possible) working on their seatwork…5yo is doing copywork and 3yo is coloring. Cabin fever has hit our household as well, so I try to break the lessons up with fun treats or activities between seatwork lessons. Lapbooks are a big help!

With my marriage…we are pluging right along, trying to set good and honest examples for others in our church that struggle and give godly councel when asked.

What I am reading…Little Women. My mother always told me it was a good book, but I never took the time. I will make sure my daughter doesn’t wait so long. Also reading the book of James and preparing to lead a ladies’ Bible study on it.

What is on my mind…I’m running out of motivation to be consistent with our school lessons. It happens every year around this time, but I must keep going. Wondering if anyone else struggles with this or is it just me being lazy? Lord, please help me with perseverance, wisdom, and understanding when the days get long and the children get roudy.

You are not old; wise maybe, but not old! Thank you so much for your Godly wisdom.

  3. Tina Lahr says:

In the kitchen….Pot Roast in the crock pot

With my children….one just left to spend the night at a friends, the other watching tv

What I’m reading….cookbooks. Have a collection dating back from the 1900′s to present day.

What have I been learning….that God does answer my prayers everyday!

What I’ve been noticing….that I have been able to detach myself from todays society and focus more on God. All of this with His help, of course!

On the back burner of my mind….planting my small garden of herbs

In the deepest darkest recesses….doubting my daughter will get into college and feeling guilty about it

  4. Here’s What’s happening …..

In My Kitchen …. homemade bread today!

With The Children ….. supposed to snow again today…..so maybe finger painting, definitely baking!

What I’m Reading … reading Passionate Housewives Desperate for God, and on day 2 of the Bible in 90 days challenge.

What I Have Been Learning … to speak quietly to my children instead of barking orders across the room…

What I’ve Been Noticing ….that my mind is calmer when I just rely on God.

On The Back Burner of My Mind …. gardening! Waiting for seeds to arrive!!

In The Deepest Darkest Recesses …. I can’t figure out the dresses only/headcovering question…..waiting for God to show me what He wants.
