French Dressing

This is the best stuff!  I could just eat it by the spoonful. Its delicious on fresh spring greens that are coming in right now and its good drizzled over boiled or stuffed eggs. You’ll find lots of things to serve it with I’m sure.  I made it in about 10 minutes this morning. It keeps in the frig about 3 weeks. You can substitute something else for the white sugar. This is about the only thing I use white sugar for any more, I just prefer it.

Homemade French Dressing
2/3 cup ketchup
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup white or red wine vinegar
1/2 cup olive oil
1 small onion, quartered
2 teaspoons paprika
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Prepare the dressing by combining the ketchup, sugar, vinegar, oil, onion, paprika and Worcestershire sauce in a blender or food processor. Blend until the onion is well chopped. Chill and serve.

Sylvia that looks heavenly! YUM! I’m good at making other dressings but never attempted that one. Thanks for the recipe.
    Blessings!

Sounds good! Thanks! This–or technically Western dressing–has become the favorite dressing around here. We used to be Thousand Island people. :)

    Oh sylvia-
I am so excited to try this as they do not sell french dressing in Germany. How long does it hold once made?

  4. Serena says:

May I share your recipe on my blog? I know tons of other expats who would love this.

I have bookmarked this in my Recipe folder! We’re trying to stay away from store-bought dressings, so I’m glad to have found your post!

I’m glad you found it too. We like it very much. We all love having salads when I make this dressing, and tonight I drizzled it over egg salad ….. yummy!

Homemade dressings are much better for you healthwise. No perservatives, soybean oil, or high fructose corn syrup.
