This week’s Journal is all about ……… food, planning and healthy eating ….
In my kitchen this week ………. eggs, bacon and toast, salted salmon, rice, salad greens from my garden, skillet meals and grilled fish and veggies….and the occasional bowl of Cheerios…
I think we do/do not eat healthily because …….. we do most of the time. I make the effort to seek out and prepare whole foods and organic meats. However, we have been known to consume a half gallon of store bought ice cream in one evening along with some Zingers or Ding Dongs. Yeah, we’re eclectic like that.
My family is/is not resistant to healthy eating because …….. they aren’t because I started them early. But they really do like their white bread and canned ravioli. Bad habits are hard to break but we do very well I think.
Choose one………..
I do have a garden ……….and we eat out of it most every day. We eat okra, lettuce, squash, broccoli,onions or whatever is in. We don’t garden as extensively as we have in the past. We do have plans to expand our gardens but there are lots of things to think about before we do that. I find that a garden helps us eat more healthily.
I don’t have a garden ………
The hardest part about eating healthily for me and my family is ……….. trying new foods and staying out of a rut recipe-wise. I pretty much know if my family is going to like something before I even make the recipe. But sometimes, I am mistaken and we have a flop. Another hard thing is finding the types of healthy foods that I want to serve my family. Organics are hard to find sometimes, especially meats and raw milk. Once I have found some good recipes after a month or two everyone gets a little tired of them. So I am continually looking for more recipes and other ways of preparing the foods we like.
My favorite thing about preparing and serving healthy foods is …… knowing that they really do contribute to the health of my family. And knowing that my choices are making a difference in the way food is produced in this country, if only in a small way.
