If Its Tuesday ….

The sun shining so brightly this morning but one step outside reminds me it is still winter. Its doggone cold!  I’m sitting here now with a comforter wrapped around my legs.

Tuesdays are my errand and running day lately. Taking people to work and piano lessons then home again takes some time. And for some reason, its just who I am, if I am distracted I find it impossible to get back on track.

So I have given over myself to Tuesday. I go with the flow. I allow my life to be blown around like those sheets on the clothes line. And I don’t mind it.

I’ll work on my radio program for Thursday night, I’ll read a while, make something for everyone to eat and try to keep the house picked up. I’ll travel far and wide taking people to their appointed rounds. And read some more. The one thing I will not do is be bored.

Do you ever have days where you don’t have the usual hustle and bustle? What do you do?

My Goals For 2012

I’ve done some thinking about goals for this year. Here’s what I came up with in no particular order.

1. Walk and swim every day. I did this two years ago and felt great. I only stopped because my Y membership expired and I couldn’t renew it. Hopefully I can just put my nose to the grindstone and do it. Because that is what exercise is like to me, grinding my nose on a rock.

2. Get a household schedule going and stick to it. I usually do the same things every day with something new thrown in here and there. But my schedule starts to look crazy about August of every year and that makes me crazy and I would like to keep that from happening. That means getting rid of some things. I know. How am I going to do that?

3. Write a book. I’m working on a Home Economics curriculum and have some of it done. It just seems insurmountable at times. So I want to be able to plug away at it til its done.

4. Learn some new skills. Not sure yet just what. Something different though like flint knapping or basket weaving.

5. Pick up piano playing again and play my flute more.

6. Find a friend who would like to get together once a month and have dinner, movie and just talk.

7. Learn to use my new camera.

8. Start making handmade gifts for next year early.

9. Get in the Word more, continue with my personal Bible studies.

10. Be more available to the women of my Church, to talk, to listen, to pray.

What kinds of things would you like to accomplish in 2012?

A New Year Arrives

I’ve been praying for you today. Actually, I’ve been praying for everyone who comes to CHK to read and comment.

My prayer is that you will be prosperous and blessed in the new year. Prosperous in the way that God wants you to prosper, blessed in a way that only God knows you need. And that those blessings will draw you closer to Him.

We’ve had a good year here. The two youngest are doing well in school. Its hard to believe that I have just 5 more years of homeschool and I’ll be done forever. This is our 21st year and we’ve graduated three.

In the coming year my goals are to spend longer times in prayer, write more and to be more ready to obey the Lord whatever He may ask of me.

I hope you’ll keep coming to read here, and comment too! Comments let me know what you’re thinking and I like that.

God bless you. God bless your New Year.

Reading For 2012

I’ve been searching around for books I’d like to read in 2012.

So far, I’ve only come up with a few. As I find more I’ll post them.
A Meal with Jesus: Discovering Grace, Community, and Mission around the Table by Tim Keller

Tempted and Tried: Temptation and the Triumph of Christ by Russell D. Moore

The Meaning of Marriage: Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God by Tim Keller

Notice they all have subtitles. I have no idea why. I don’t think I chose them because of it.

The Medieval Theologians, edited by G.R. Evans

The Explicit Gospel by Matt Chandler and Jared Wilson

As I find more I’ll list them and I’ll review them for you as I read them.
