About

In 1996 Sylvia Britton began an online ministry called  The 20th Century Christian Homekeeper.  That ministry grew out of her heart to serve and offer help women whom God has called to serve Him in their homes.  As that ministry grew and expanded, and enjoyed slightly different names like The 21st Century HomeKeeper and finally, The Christian HomeKeeper™, God continued to bless and use it for His glory.

In 2005 the name was briefly changed to Titus 2 Christian HomeKeeper™ when the ministry was combined with the ministry of Traci’s Christian Cottage. For three years, the newly-named ministry of T2CHK was led by both Sylvia and Traci. In 2008, God led Traci to new ventures and work. Traci’s work at T2CHK was the instrumental link to bring together all of the the ideas, aspirations and the reality of Internet ministry for T2CHK.

Today the ministry is known simply as The Christian HomeKeeper™ Network.

Sylvia, together with her administrative team of volunteers and board members, offers mentoring, encouragement and instruction in the spirit of Titus 2 and Proverbs 31. CHK is a Grace-based ministry offering Bible teaching and mentoring to women. You can read our Statement of Faith here.

Meet the Mentors and Writers

Sylvia Britton, Founding Administrator. Sylvia and her husband Mark live in Tennessee    and have been married since 1980. They are the parents of 5 children and have educated their children at home since 1990. Sylvia began working in online ministry in 1996 with Christian HomeKeeper™ and the Christian HomeKeeper™ message board.

It was at Vacation Bible School in 1969 that she met the Lord Jesus and was saved to a life in Him. She has been a Bible teacher for 32 years and has taught Kindergarden through the elderly. Presently, the Lord is also using Sylvia as music director in her local church. Of all the roles that God has placed in her life, she cherishes that of wife, mother and grandmother most deeply.

She enjoys reading, mentoring women, writing articles for several magazines, gardening, Bible study and creating a peaceful holy home. God has given Sylvia the gifts of wisdom and administration and she has found a wonderful outlet for those gifts at Christian HomeKeeper™. Follow Sylvia on Google+.

Karen Twombly, Administrator. Born in Maine, Karen was raised in a Christian family. At the age of 11 she asked the Lord Jesus to be her personal Savior and Lord of her life. Sensing the call of God to teach the Bible, she enrolled at New England Baptist Bible College at the age of 22 and graduated with her Bachelors of Religious Education Degree. During her time in Bible College she met and married her best friend Robin Twombly, who was also a student.

Karen has been teaching the Bible for 21 years. She has taught every age group from toddler to the elderly in Sunday School classes, Ladies Bible Studies, Discipleship ministries, and Education Conferences. She has served as a pastor’s wife during her husband’s 7 years of pastoral work, as Chairman of the Christian Education Committee as well as on various boards to plan and implement regional Christian Educational Conferences.

Karen and her husband Robin currently have 3 children. Karen spends her time homeschooling her children and serving in her local church. She is involved in discipleship ministry, teaching in childrens’ ministry and serving on the worship team. Karen’s passion is fulfilling the mandate of Eph. 4:12-15 “to equip the saints for works of service so that they may be mature in Christ and not deceived by false doctrine.” Karen’s blog is Peaceful Gatherings.

Wardeh Harmon, Technical Administrator. Wardeh (“Wardee”) lives in Oregon with her husband, Jeff, and their three children, Haniya, Naomi & Mikah. They live on five and a half gorgeous wooded acres, which they are in the process of turning into a productive homestead.

Wardeh’s passions are sewing garments and healthy cooking, although she loves to create just anything from scratch, should the mood hit right. These activities might include creating and preparing wholesome, nutritious meals; gardening; sewing garments or home decor; quilting; reading books about nutrition or crafts; knitting; crocheting; reading great books to her children; making soap; or teaching her children a new craft.

Wardeh loves to share what she’s learning and creating with other women. She hopes that her contributions to the CHK ministry will bless your heart and home. Wardeh keeps a food blog — GNOWFGLINS; a family blog — Such Treasures; and she teaches online classes in traditional cooking, sourdough and cultured dairy at GNOWFGLINS eCourse.
