A Purpose

Sylvia curls

Have you ever wondered what your purpose was?  Or is?  I certainly have and I think a lot of us have thought about that from time to time.

I arrived online and started CHK when the internet was young and everything online was new and amazing. I started it with the purpose of teaching and learning and blessing women who wanted to know how to do things at home with whatever I had to give which was usually hands on experience and knowledge of doing all kinds of old fashioned things.

That’s still my purpose here.  Although I have not been doing much teaching of late.  I have sort of lost my way as far as CHK goes. Life has gotten busy and sometimes complicated and I haven’t always known if I should keep on working on CHK.

But I have been praying about it and I intend to push on with teaching and sharing here.  It is where my heart lies, and where I know I have been serving God faithfully. So I want to keep on doing that. I’m sorry I haven’t been sharing or teaching here like I was at one time. I’m praying for a new breath of life and renewed purpose and joy.

I know what my purpose isn’t.  I don’t want to create some artificial need in you to do what I do. I don’t want to make you feel like you’re not doing things right or that you don’t have something that I have and you should go get it. I don’t want to make you envious of things or feed any thoughts you have that are not godly. My only desire is to please God by helping you.

My house is ordinary. My life is ordinary. And I have ordinary but interesting and important skills to share with you. And I want to share my faith with you too because its been so important to me.

So if you have read all this, thank you.  I may not be fancy and have a cool website but I will try my best to give you every ounce of what God has given me.  I love doing this and I pray every day that you’re blessed here.

Hi, Sylvia. I really appreciate your website and that you’re continuing your ministry. I’m learning alot from it, and it’s exactly the types of things I’ve been looking for to learn. I don’t care that it’s not fancy! You’re gracious attitude and homekeeping lessons are all that matters to me. 😉 Thankyou so much!
I always wanted to be a homekeeper when I was growing up but was trained to be “career minded” instead, learning virtually NOTHING about homekeeping or how to serve my husband and children in a godly way. I’m finally getting my chance to be what I’ve always really wanted (full-time homekeeper), but realized I didn’t really know anything about it, and even my attitude needed changing! I believe one way God has been faithful in helping me to learn how to be a godly wife and mom is in providing websites like yours. You and others are teaching me how to serve my husband and children in a Biblical way. Thankyou, thankyou!

Sylvia, I just celebrated my 25 anniversary with my husband. I had my first baby at 18, second at 20, and I was completely clueless and alone. My husband was in the Navy, we were 2000 miles from my family. I struggled through for a while then found Dr James Dobson who opened my eyes to my responsibility. Then I found Jesus, and then I found you. You and your teachings have made me a better mother and homemaker. I cannot thank God enough for all you’ve done in my life, you were a mother, mentor, and friend even though I didn’t comment much. I had to tell you this, not to persuade you to teach again, but simply to thank you.
    Bless you

My homemaking skills have been lackluster the last few years. I whine and inwardly complain about picking up messes that I didn’t create. I want to be more thankful and grateful this year. I would like to be a better homemaker this coming year God willing.

My life is soooo ordinary and although I love my home and I believe it’s amazing it probably isn’t to the rest of the world. Mostly I am very very thankful to have a roof over my head!

  9. Sylvia, I love all the wisdom and skills you have shared through CHK. I have learned so much by reading and yes, using many of your recipes for natural cleaning products. We all go through a time of business. And a time we need refreshing ourselves. I love your heart, and the Ministry you have in teaching these skills. I’m ordinary too. But GOD continues to grow me and use me in so many online area’s. I am a teacher too. I love sharing GOD’S WORD with others. Just wanted to share this with you. It’s ok to back away sometimes. We need alone with GOD time, to refuel. Never does HE allow our cup to run dry! GOD may close this door, or HE may just keep using this CHK and add more Ministry areas. I know HE had opened many new doors for me. GOD BLESS you always.
